Set up Deepgram
Deepgram turns the physician's audio into text using its nova-3-medical model. It is the lowest-cost option and our recommended default for transcription.

Create your API key
Create a Deepgram account
Go to console.deepgram.com and sign up. New accounts include free credit to start.
Open the API Keys page
In the Deepgram Console, select your project, then open API Keys from the sidebar.

Click Create a New API Key, name it
DirectScribe, and give it a role that allows usage (Member is fine). Copy the key — Deepgram shows the full value only once.Paste it into DirectScribe
In DirectScribe, open Settings → Providers → Transcription, choose Deepgram, and paste the key. It is saved to your macOS Keychain.

Privacy paperwork
BAA — available on request
Deepgram will enter into a Business Associate Agreement with you on request. If your practice's privacy assessment calls for a signed vendor agreement before you send any patient-derived audio, contact Deepgram to put one in place first. Confirm the current terms directly with Deepgram.
