Set up Anthropic (Claude)

Anthropic's Claude models shape your transcript into your template with strong clinical-note quality. Before you rely on it for patient-derived text, read the privacy note below carefully.

Create your API key

  1. Create an Anthropic account

    Sign up at console.anthropic.com and add a payment method under Billing.

  2. Create an API key

    Open API Keys, click Create Key, name it DirectScribe, and copy it. The value is shown once.

  3. Paste it into DirectScribe

    Open Settings → Providers → Intelligence, choose Anthropic, and paste the key. It is saved to your macOS Keychain.

BAA — status being verified, treat as conditional

We have not yet confirmed whether Anthropic offers a Business Associate Agreement to individual or small-clinic customers. Do not assume one is available. If your privacy assessment requires a signed vendor agreement before sending any patient-derived text, use OpenAI (BAA by email to individuals) or run note-shaping locally with LM Studio until Anthropic's small-customer terms are confirmed. Verify current terms directly with Anthropic.
